Standardized Tests

In cooperation with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and the Ohio State Department of Education, SASEAS School participates in the IOWA test. Students in grades 2, 4, 6 and 8 are given these tests during the trimester of the school year. The IIOWA differs from typical achievement tests in that the IOWA compares students with others in their grade level around the nation. The Ohio proficiency tests compare student performance against a set of state education standards.

IOWA scores are listed in percentiles. A 50% score is average and indicates that a student did as well as half the students in their grade nationwide. Over the past 3 years the students at SASEAS School have averaged 76% in all core subjects. The top 10% of our students accomplished total composite scores of 96% in the 2nd grade, 94% in the 4th grade, 92% in the 6th grade, and 96% in the 8th grade. If you are interested in reviewing the actual grade level scores for last fall please call the office for a copy.

The IOWA results give the school important information regarding the progress of our students, which enable us to do some longitudinal studies about our students and our school program. Through studying and tracking our students’ performance in relation to their ability, we can determine if adjustments in our curriculum or our teaching methods are needed.

SASEAS School is proud of its academic record of performance and continues to remain academically challenging to its students.
