5th Grade Visits the Art Museum

Earlier this year, the students read The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler which takes place in the Metropolitan Art Museum. In preparation for their field trip to our city's own art museum, the students compared the museums using the Google Art Project and the museums' websites.

At the Cincinnati Art Museum, in addition to seeing ancient artifacts, a renaissance painting by Raphael, and many other works of art, the students explored the current photography exhibit. They saw artwork by German botanist and photographer, Jochen Lempert who documents plants and animals with an artistic eye.

This experience connected their history, science, language and visual arts lessons all together.
