Week of November 6, 2017

Religion – This week, we are continuing to learn about the Sacrament of Baptism which gives us new life in Christ.  Along with Chapter 4, the students will be working on a Baptism packet, connecting what they have learned in the textbook to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We will continue our study of this sacrament in Chapter 5 which describes the symbols used in the sacrament, as well as, the gifts that are received in Baptism.

Language Arts – Our WoW word is conundrum.  The prompt is: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?  We are continuing to read the book Hatchet.  After reading each chapter, the students are writing a short story summary.  These summaries will be placed in a Matchbook Summary Folder. Along with this, the students are completing a Tri-fold booklet for every 4 chapters.  A specific comprehension strategy is highlighted for every chapter.  In grammar, we are working on identifying and writing a complete sentence.  We are also working on subject-verb agreement in our writing.

Social Studies – We are continuing our unit on Early Explorers.  This week, we will be completing lessons 1 and 2, describing the aims, obstacles, and accomplishments of early explorers.  Our quiz will be on Thursday, after completing notecards and playing a Jeopardy game as a review
