Week of October 16th

Happy Tuesday, Families!  I hope all of you had a nice weekend!  We have so many fun things planned for this week!  I can't wait to get started!!!!

Religion:
We are now working in Chapter 3, which focuses on the 7 Sacraments.  On Thursday, I introduced the Sacraments to the children and discussed what type of Sacrament each was.  Heads up, the children will need to be able to tell me if a Sacrament is a Sacrament of Christian Initiation, Healing, or Service. We will have a Chapter 3 Test on October 25th

Reading/Expression:
NO SPELLING/NO WRITING PROMPT THIS WEEK!!!
We are working on chapters 5-8 in Hatchet this week and next!  Like section 1, there are 20 vocabulary words the children will need to know the definitions of.  We will have test over chapters 5-8 on October 26th.  We are working on the vocabulary now.  Students should have a full list by tomorrow.

Math:
My Math Class is working on Lessons 38,39, and 40 this week.  Because we have a field trip on Friday, I need to give the children a cumulative test on MONDAY next week.

Science:
This week we are focusing on the design process of science.Today we took our Chapter 2 Vocabulary Quiz and made moving models of a human arm.  Students will have the chance to complete some assignments on PearsonRealize in class this week, as well as read Lesson 3. We will review for the Chapter 2 Test NEXT MONDAY and the test will be NEXT TUESDAY.  I will post a study guide soon!

Reminders:
Wednesday-Crazy Hat and Sock Day
Thursday-Movie and Popcorn Day
Friday-Field Trip and Tech Day!!!

****We will be watching Finding Dory on Thursday.  It is PG and per school rules, I need parental consent from all of you, allowing your child to watch this movie.  I have a form...but forgot to send it home.  If you want, you can wait until the form goes home Wednesday, or you can just send in a note stating it is ok for your child to watch this movie in class.

Thank you so much for all you do!  I hope you have a great week, and thank you for sharing your children with me!

Sincerely,
Mandy Wood
