In The Classroom For the Week of May 12th, 2008
Sixth Grade
Mrs. Ambs:
- Reading: Students have presented their Ohio Author Brochure to the class and will be presenting to the seventh graders this week. Now that students have finished studying different forms of poetry, they will begin writing poetry and will complete three different forms. The poetry unit test on Friday is given over two class periods and is a combination of multiple choice questions and essays. The final class novel of the school year is A Long Way from Chicago .
- English: This week the students will begin the comprehensive vocabulary review over units 10-12. Students will be creating and displaying in the class room vocab-a-toons as a review for the comprehensive test. The grammar unit this week will focus on the components of the basic sentence and direct and indirect objects.

Mrs. Wolfe:
- Math: We'll start working with negative numbers by the end of the week.
- Science: First of all, I would like to thank all students and families for the many gifts I received during Teacher Appreciation Week. My family liked them too! Secondly, our field trip Monday should help students to appreciate the beauty and importance of trees. It should also help them provide good observations for the report. Our classroom work will involve a lecture about classification, and we will begin to discuss bacteria and viruses. Labs involve detecting and culturing bacteria.
Mrs. Mascolino:
- Art: The sixth grade students are creating their
interpretations of Leonardo da Vinci's The Mona Lisa.
Seventh Grade
Mrs. Bohlen:
- Religion: Students explore truth and justice in relation to the 10 Commandments and the Beatitudes and apply right judgment to hypothetical moral decisions that teens today may face. Situations include peer pressure, cheating on a test, shoplifting, bullying, etc.
- Reading: We wrap up the novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” this week. We will have a test and a writing assignment related to the book.. Students will have class time to complete the writing assignment.
- English: A Unit 12 vocabulary test will be Tuesday, May 13.
Miss Gill:
- Math: Probability experiments. True/False quiz, Dice, and coins. Testing for Math Placement next year.
Mrs. Gulleman:
- Social Studies: Students will begin Chapter 18: Reconstruction. Students will complete lessons 1 and 2 over the week.
Mrs. Hamilton:
- Science: Monday- Sound Lab. Tuesday- Finish Chapter 2 on Sound. Wednesday and Thursday- Chapter Review and Study. Friday- Chapter 2 Test.
Miss Kelly:
- Spanish: Adjectives Quiz Thurs on clothes p 232/3
Mrs. Mascolino:
- Art:
The seventh grade students are drawing cities using
two-point perspective.
Eighth Grade
Miss Gill :
- Math: Review Monday for test Tuesday

- English: Persuasive Essays
Mrs. Gulleman:
- Social Studies: Students will complete Chapter 29 Monday. Students will read Chapter 30 in class and watch a series of videos over the information.
