Week of 11/11-11/15
Religion-This week we will make lap books that compare and contrasts a Greek creation myth with the Scriptural account of the creation of man.  The St. Gertrude the Great oral test will be on November 26th.
Reading/Language Arts- This week in Reading, we will learn about fact and opinion as we read the story "Can't You Make Them Behave, King George?"  We will also learn about the vocabulary in the story and using context clues.  In Phonics, we will learn about open and closed syllables in words with the VCV spelling pattern.  In Spelling, we will learn about words with the VCV spelling pattern.  Students will practice by completing a packet throughout the week.  Additional practice is available on Spelling City.  In Grammar, we will learn about verb tenses.  Students will practice by completing a grammar packet throughout the week.  Students will be tested on all of these concepts on Friday.  In writing, students will write a paragraph that states a problem in the community and possible solutions.  Please make sure your child is reading nightly, so they can reach their Accelerated Reader goal by Friday.
Social Studies- This week we will review that trade occurs when people and countries exchange goods and services in Topic 1: Lesson 7.  There will be a quiz over this lesson on Wednesday.  We will then learn that governments keep order provide services, and protect their people in Topic 1: Lesson 8.
Math- This week we will review concepts learned in Lessons 41-45.  There will be a test over these lessons on Tuesday.  We will then learn about multiplying by 2-digit numbers (Lesson 51) and naming numbers through hundred billions.
