A Reminder for Studying

Parents and students:
Please note that in order to review any of the chapters in our books a fast and sure fire way to practice is to use the publisher's website. I will give it to you here, but it is also on the back of the Religion book your child uses.

Welcome Back!

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for all the delicious cookies, candies, gift cards and mugs I received for Christmas! I was also very surprised by the generosity of all the families of SASEAS who contributed toward a 'little something extra' in my Christmas card. I am so blessed to be a part of this wonderful community. Know that I keep you all in my prayers as we journey through the remainder of the school year. Thank you for thinking of me.

Join us as We Pray

Welcome to the month of November! In the Church's calendar, the month of November is the time we remember all those who came before us...the Saints as well as the Holy Souls in Purgatory. We teach that our prayers can aid those souls in Purgatory who cannot pray for themselves. I have started a board where the students have included the names of loved ones who have died. We are promising to pray for their souls EVERY DAY in November. If you would like to join us, I am including a copy of the form we used. Just write the names of your loved ones who have died and we will add them to our prayers!

I felt that the Queenship of Mary would be an excellent time to reveal what I have been doing this summer! This is my prayer corner in my classroom for the students to use after going to Confession or just to have a moment to themselves. Judging from the reactions as my classes entered my room, I think they are excited! Mother Mary, watch over us! Queen of the Angels, pray for us!

Week of August 22, 2019

So happy to be back and enjoy so many bright, shiny faces! We opened with Mass on this, the memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary! The children will be handed their new Religion books and will make their first entry in their Prayer Journal. Please pray for us as we begin this school year and know that we will be praying for you!

We enter this week, the holiest of all weeks, drawing ourselves closer to Our Lord and to His suffering...leading to His Resurrection... The children will experience prayer time in front of the Eucharist, reflection time with their families and the Stations of Cross on Thursday. Please come join us on Thursday @ 2:00!

Week of April 1

We have a pretty busy week ahead...Mass on Wednesday, Adoration on Thursday to remember the 100th anniversary of the death of Francisco Marto (one of the children of the Fatima apparitions), and Confessions on Friday. Fr. Chris will have gotten all the school children to Confession for Lent by then!
8th Grade - The students will be taking a quiz over Chapter 14 and viewing the Theology of the Body lessons 2 and 3 this week. 8A will be assisting with parts of the Mass as well! We will also review for the Unit test!
7th Grade - The students will be taking a quiz over Chapter 13. They will also be viewing Theology of the Body lessons 2 and 3. We will also try to begin Chapter 14, breaking down the Beatitudes. 7th graders will be helping with our Adoration and Rosary for Thursday!
6th Grade - The students will be reviewing for their quiz over Chapter 14, God Forgives Us. The quiz will be Tuesday!

Week of March 4

Week of Feb 25

A HUGE thank you goes out to Fr. Chris! Last Friday he spent the entire day at school hearing confessions. What a great gift to give the students of our school! Not everyone was able to get to Confession because of the time factor. Please know, parents, that our priests offer Confession times on the weekend if any child would like to go that didn't get the opportunity.
Here's what will be happening this week:
All classes will be taking some reflection time as a pre-Lent activity has them taking a look at and praying for ways they can grow closer to Christ.
8th Grade - They will have a quiz on Tuesday over Chapter 12. We will be looking at life in the Middle Ages and how saints, with the help of the Holy Spirit helped the Church grow stronger.
7th Grade - The students will have a test over Chapter 11 - Miracles of Jesus on Tuesday. We will take a quick look at the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Anointing of the Sick and taking a closer look at what makes Viaticum such a special gift to us.
6th Grade - The students will be testing over Chapter 12 on Monday. They were also given a worksheet (#39 - The Golden Rule in Action) that must be turned in when they take their test. We move into Chapter 13 where we read about the Israelites roaming in the desert for 40 years!

Week of February 4

Here's what's going on this week:
8th gr - 8A will be helping with planning the Mass this Wednesday. We will be taking the boys to the Seminary on Thursday as well as the girls to the Holy Spirit Center. The students will get a chance to speak with seminarians and sisters from the order of The Children of Mary.
7th gr - We will take a close look at the Parables that Jesus told in Chapter 11.
6th gr - We will read about what happened to the Israelites after they were led out of Egypt and headed to the Promised Land.
8th graders - make sure to bring in your permission slip for the Vocations Day field trip!

Week of January 14

What a great week we had! We ended with Adoration for all classes on Friday! Your children are amazing...they ask for this time to be with Jesus. It is inspiring to witness! Thank you for sharing them with me! Here's what's happening this week:
8th Gr - We will be taking a closer look at some of the instrumental people of the early Church and why their work was fundamental to our growth!
7th Gr - We finish up our first unit. We will review all that we have covered in these eight chapters! Unit test might be given at the end of the week!
6th Gr - We are taking a closer look at the Plagues of Egypt...and the one that finally convinced Pharaoh to let God's People GO!

Week of January 7

Welcome back to all parents and students! Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and have started the new year in thanksgiving and hope! I have kept you all in my prayers and look forward to the second half of this school year! Just want to also take the time to, again, thank all of you for your prayers and very thoughtful gifts. I am humbled by your generosity!
Let's take a look at the week:
8th Grade: We start Chapter 10 and we are looking at what happened to our Church after Pentecost! We will be focusing on the Acts of the Apostles.
7th Grade: We are reviewing Chapter 8 and will have Fr. Chris and Catherine in our classes on Thursday as we take a close look at the Sacrament of Baptism. We will look at the signs and symbols of the sacrament while this is happening!
6th Grade: We will be reading about the Exodus, so that means we meet Moses! We will also take a closer look at the plagues of Egypt (Ew,gross!)

Week of Dec 3

Happy New Year, liturgically speaking! We mark the first week of Advent and our children will spend the time waiting with Mary this Advent. I will be trying to connect with Fr. Chris's Sunday homilies during Lent and having the students look at the Psalms that Mary (and Jesus) prayed!
