Week of November 13, 2017

The fifth grade Button and Magnet Factory is officially open for business!  The students are making both buttons and magnets to sell for the Adopt-A-Family Program.  We will be selling this artwork on Friday, December 1, 2017.
Religion - In chapter 5, the students are learning about the different parts of the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. They will be identifying the various symbols used in the Sacrament and will look up Bible verses referenced in the Blessing of Water.
Language Arts - The WoW word for this week is ludicrous.  The prompt is: What do you think is ludicrous?  Just a reminder: anytime a student finds a WoW word, in a book they are reading, on TV, or in the newspaper, he/she is to bring in a note or the book to receive a merit!  In Reading, we are continuing to read Hatchet.  I would like to finish this book before Thanksgiving!  The students are working hard on their chapter summaries for the matchbook folder.
Social Studies - We finished lesson 3 today.  Tomorrow the students will be learning about how to read an elevation map.  I would like to have a quiz on Friday covering both lessons 3 and 4 vocabulary and reading check questions.
