Week of November 7, 2016

Religion – Last week, we had a unique opportunity to experience a Rosary program.  We were visited by a representative from the Shepherds of Christ organization who talked to our students at length about the Rosary.  She also assisted our students in making a rosary.  We are looking forward to using our new rosaries, on Tuesday as we participate in a school-wide Adoration of the Eucharist on Tuesday.  Finally, we will wrap up our in-depth look at the sacrament of Baptism.

Language Arts – The WoW word for this week is conundrum.  The prompt is: What came first, the chicken or the egg?  In Grammar, we will be identifying nouns as direct objects.  As we continue to expand our knowledge of using nouns, I will be on the lookout for students to use nouns (direct and indirect) correctly in their writing.

Social Studies - We are beginning our exploration of early explorers.  In the first lesson, we will be discussing the use on new technology: like maps, a printing press, faster ships, and new navigational tools that allowed the explorers to venture beyond the sight of land. The first two explorers we will study are Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus.
