Religion - We are learning about the sacraments of healing. We have finished the chapters on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and have moved on to the chapters on the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. By the end of this week, ask your child about the word, viaticum.
Just a reminder, May Crowning is before Mass on Wednesday. The 5th grade students are to dress up in their Sunday best and bring their uniform to change in later.
Language Arts - This week we are finishing our "Matchbook Summaries" for Where the Red Fern Grows. We have started our new book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. During our novel study, we will be focusing on the symbolism used in the book, as well as, the use of figurative language.
The WoW word is amicable. The prompt is, Some people feel that if two children cannot be amicable to each other, they should be made to stay together until they learn to get along. Convince someone that this is true.
Math - We started the week by making and interpreting comparative bar and line graphs and quickly moved onto practicing division with 2 digit divisors. We will round out the week by practicing dividing fractions by using reciprocals and using a ratio to describe a relationship between two numbers.
Social Studies - This week, we are learning about the events that united the 13 colonies and led up to the Revolutionary War. We will be discussing the French and Indian War, the Stamp Act, The Townshend Acts, the Boston Tea Party, and the Coercive Acts. Each of these will be introduced to the students as if they were colonists from the 13 colonies.
