Classroom News: October 23-26

6th Grade Social Studies
1. This week we will dive into our study of Ancient Egypt. The students will take notes on the Old Kingdom, including burial practices, Egyptian gods and goddesses, and the pyramids. 
2. We will start our Ancient Egypt project this week. The students will research a certain part of Egyptian culture and create a power point to share their knowledge with their classmates. The project handouts will be posted on my website later in the week. 
3. This week the students will be assigned a state for the political convention that will take place next Friday, 11/3. The students are allowed to dress up to represent their state that day, and they must know the population and state motto for convention (this can be written on a note card). An order form will come home this week for the convention t-shirt and lunch. 
 
7th Grade Religion
1. This week the students will continue to view "The Bible and the Sacraments" series on Formed.org. The students are taking notes on the series and will complete a sacrament project at the conclusion of the series. 
2. The students will start chapter 6 this week. This chapter focuses on the mission of Jesus. 
3. This week the students will be assigned a state for the political convention that will take place next Friday, 11/3. The students are allowed to dress up to represent their state that day, and they must know the population and state motto for convention (this can be written on a note card). An order form will come home this week for the convention t-shirt and lunch. 
 
8th Grade Social Studies
1. This week we are in high gear with political convention preparation. The students are creating  banners, writing speeches, and developing convention music playlists. 
2. This week the students will be assigned a state for the political convention that will take place next Friday, 11/3. The students are allowed to dress up to represent their state that day, and they must know the population and state motto for convention (this can be written on a note card). An order form will come home this week for the convention t-shirt and lunch. 
3. We will start to work on chapter 13 this week. This chapter focuses on economics.
