January 15th-January 19th

Good Morning Parents!  I hope all of you had a nice, long weekend with your kiddos!  I don't know about you, but I am quite tired of this snow business!  Bring on the sunshine and warmer weather!!!!
Due to our unexpected day off yesterday, I have had to make a couple of changes to our weekly schedule.  There will be no Spelling or Grammar packets/tests this week.  We will not have a word of the week as well.  We will pick up with those lessons next week.  The final copy of the Snow Globe story was due on Tuesday, so if the children did not bring it today, I am afraid they had to sign the book.  We will have a brief quiz over Holes today.  The children will be allowed to use their novels and notes, so I feel confident they will do just fine with the quiz.  We will go over the questions before the quiz in case anyone is unsure.
In Science, we will begin Lesson 1 in Chapter 4 today.  I had planned on giving a vocabulary quiz tomorrow over the chapter 4 words, but have decided to move that to Friday.
In Math, we will concentrate on lesson 65 today.  Tomorrow the children will be given a reteach packet to review the lessons 56-60, and on Friday, they will have a test over those lessons.
We will continue our discussion on Confirmation this week in Religion class, starting Chapter 9 today.  We will focus on symbols and actions of Confirmation, as well as the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.  I will plan on a test over this chapter NEXT Thursday.
-Be sure to pack a snack each day!
-It's been a while, but we will have gym NEXT Monday.  Plan on packing gym clothes
-Biography posters are due NEXT Thursday.  Poster board is going home today.  I told the children we would discuss the report for the project later on, but they should be making informational note cards about the person they read about. We'll be doing a cute activity with our poster early in February.
-D.A.R.E. graduation is still scheduled for Thursday, January 25th.  I believe it will start at 2:15
-No School next Friday for Professional Development
-Catholic Schools Week is coming up!!!!!!!
I hope all of you have a wonderful rest of the week! Stay warm, stay safe, and as always, thank you for sharing your children with me!
