February 5th-February 9th

Good Morning Parents!  Happy Chilly Monday!!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  It was so nice to see so many of you at the Spaghetti Dinner and Dance on Friday!  I sincerely hope no one took any pictures or videos of me busting my moves on the dance floor!  No one needs a re-cap of that!!!  :-)
One would think that with Catholic Schools Week over, we would have time to take a breath, but that is not going to happen this week I'm afraid!  We have another one jam-packed with play rehearsals, conferences, and our Living Museum!  And what's that I hear about a wintery mix coming Wednesday morning???  Fasten your seatbelts!  Here we go!
We will complete our first chapter on the Eucharist tomorrow.  On Wednesday, we will have a review over Chapter 10 and the test on Thursday.  Next week we will begin a packet on the Sacrament of Eucharist, along with a cute poster about God's Love that will be a activity for Valentine's Day!
Reading/Language Arts:
I can't believe it, but we will be finishing up our Holes novel this week!  I will have the children take a test over the entire book on Friday.  There will be no quiz over the final chapters we will be reading this week.  Our Word of the Week is AMBIDEXTROUS.  Students need to write a paragraph telling what career would being ambidextrous be the most helpful for and why.  We will begin with our word map and essay map today. Rough Drafts will be due Wednesday and Final Copies will be due Friday.  We will continue the use of our Grammar Flip Program this week, focusing on Prepositions and Prepositional Phrases.  We will not have a Grammar Packet this week, but we will have a Grammar Quiz on Friday, along with our Spelling test.  Spelling Packets will go home today and are due Friday.
We will finish up our Crater Lab we started last week today and then begin reviewing for our Chapter 4 Test, which is scheduled for Wednesday!  After the test, we will begin our individual research on planets and create informational posters the remainder of the week.  I also have a webquest and some fun labs scheduled for next week to wrap up our unit on space!
Today my math class will work on a Reteach packet for Lessons 61-65 and there will be a test over these chapters tomorrow.  We will then work on Lessons 71,72, and 73 the remainder of the week.
-Pack a Snack every day!
-Start working on costumes for the play!  We will have a dress rehearsal for the play THIS FRIDAY, so students really need to have their costumes ready by then.  Amazon is a great place to shop for costumes if you are like me and couldn't sew on a button let alone a whole costume!
-There will be performances for the play at  10:30, 2:30, and 6:30 on February 12th.
-Conferences are tomorrow from 4-8.  If I did not send you a conference sheet, but you feel we should meet, please send me an email and I will make time for you!!
-The children will hold their Living Museum with their special 2nd grade buddies on Wednesday afternoon.  Please make sure your child is familiar with his or her person so we can teach our 2nd grade friends some new things!
Whew!  I think that covers it all!  I hope all of you have a wonderful week!  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email me any time!
As always, thank you for sharing your children with me!
